Many people have asked me if the new restrictive Trump immigration policies will affect citizenship applications for children of US citizens who grew up abroad.

Many people have asked me if the new restrictive Trump immigration policies will affect citizenship applications for children of US citizens who grew up abroad.

This process is known as the N-600K application (also known as the Section 322 grandfather clause, or "grandfather law").

As of now, there are no indications that there will be any changes to the law or interpretations of this law.

However, it can be expected that USCIS may become stricter on providing sufficient evidence of the grandparent's physical presence in the US.

Whoever is considering undergoing this process during the next few years should make sure to provide as much evidence as possible.

As far as waiting times for processing are concerned, it's still unclear what the effect of the new administration would be.
